Expectations

  • Mentors/Mentees should meet on a regular basis at a location and time agreed upon as they begin their walk together. We recommend on hour each week or bi-weekly, in person.
  • Basics for each meeting should include prayer, spiritual evaluation, unpacking your story, and discussion of study materials.
  • New Breed Mentoring is not necessarily for discipleship or accountability. However, we believe these are by-products of a growing relationship being developed.
  • New Breed Mentoring is an environment to build relationships, encourage spiritual growth and ultimately help another man grow to be a mentor himself.
  • Mentors need to evaluate their time together to see how teachable a mentee is. Mentors need to show dignity and respect throughout the experience

Essential Elements of Mentoring

At the heart of New Breed Mentoring is the power of storytelling. Sharing your journey and listening to others fosters genuine connections. Each session begins with a simple yet profound question: “What is God doing in your life this week?” This opens the door to deeper conversations and spiritual growth. Prayer is a cornerstone of our mentoring process, providing strength and clarity as we seek to understand our purpose in Christ. By nurturing these elements, we aim to cultivate mentors who will continue to inspire and guide others.

Essential Strategies for Mentoring Success

Keys to Building Strong Mentoring Relationships

Successful mentoring relationships are built on a foundation of mutual respect, understanding and consistency. It’s crucial to ensure that both mentor and mentee are a good fit from the outset as one size does not fit all. Effective listening is another key component, allowing mentors to truly understand the needs and aspirations of their mentees with permission to lean into each other’s lives. Remember, authenticity and transparency are vital in fostering a genuine connection.
